According to Chief of Public Relations of Papua Regional Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, “Tri Sudarno passed away after falling from one of the towers,” he informed reporters on Thursday (March 14, 2024).
The incident unfolded when the Basarnas team received a report that a resident, identified as TY (21), was attempting to end their life by climbing a tower in Sentani Barat District, Jayapura Regency, on Wednesday (March 13). The Basarnas team immediately called upon Tri to initiate the rescue as TY refused to descend despite the persuasions of the authorities.
“During the evacuation, TY resisted, and eventually, both of them fell from the tower. Tri Sudarno suffered from a broken shoulder and right arm, as well as a fatal head injury,” he said.
“Meanwhile, the individual attempting suicide is still receiving medical treatment,” he added.
