CheckPapuaNow.com – The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force successfully apprehended a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Puncak Ilaga, Papua, last Sunday (2/18). Chief of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Commissioner Faizal Ramadhani, disclosed that the arrest followed reports from residents about a suspicious group in the area.
Faizal explained that his team conducted a sweep around the District Capital of Ilaga near Koramil Ilaga. During the operation, they apprehended Alenus Tabuni, also known as Kobuter, near the Ilaga Health Center.
“In the operation, the Peace Task Force in the Puncak region managed to apprehend one KKB member, Alenus Tabuni alias Kobuter, while he was among the community in front of the Health Center,” Faizal said in a written statement on Tuesday (2/20).
During the arrest process, The Cartenz Peace Task Force also seized several pieces of evidence, including cash, an iron file, and a Nokia mobile phone. Currently, the suspect is undergoing intensive questioning at the Puncak Police Resort.
Faizal urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activities to local authorities to maintain security in the Puncak region, Papua.
“We ask for the support of the community in providing information to the local security forces to ensure security in Puncak Regency,” he added.
Faizal also revealed that Alenus was previously a member of the KKB under the leadership of Goliath Tabuni before switching to a group led by Numbuk Telenggen operating in Puncak, Papua.
“Alenus has played a significant role in several criminal activities in the Puncak region,” Faizal said in a written statement on Wednesday (2/21).
According to Faizal, Alenus has been involved in a series of criminal acts in the Puncak Papua area, including arson, shootings, assaults, and property destruction. One of the incidents involving Alenus was the shooting of a motorcycle taxi driver, resulting in a fatality.
“In addition, Alenus also assisted the leader of the KKB Numbuk Telenggen by transporting ammunition and firearms during armed confrontations, as well as storing and securing ammunition and firearms,” Faizal added.
